At 2,600km², Tarangire is far from being the biggest of the Tanzanian parks, but its unrivaled landscape of open plains, dotted with thousands of baobabs, is unforgettable. About 120kms south of Arusha, Tarangire is known for its very big herds of buffalo & Elephants. This is one of Africa’s little-known gems and should be on the itinerary of all lovers of wilderness and solitude. The game numbers are staggering: 30,000 zebra, 25,000 wildebeest, 5,000 buffalo, 3,000 elephant, 2,500 Masai giraffe and over 1,000 fringe-eared Oryx (gemsbok). Birders will want to look out for the endemic ashy starling, rufous-tailed weaver and black-collared lovebird

The Ngorongoro crater is a conservation area and a UNESCO World Heritage Site located 210 km west of Arusha. Known as ‘the eighth wonder of the world' the Ngorongoro Crater is one of Africa's best-known wildlife arenas. It offers a unique biosphere, which has remained virtually unchanged since the dawn of time. Deep within the Crater, enclosed by towering walls, some 25,000 large mammals wander the plains, lakes and forests of ‘the land that time forgot', dominated by enormous bull elephants, rhinos and lions

The Park is undoubtedly the best-known wildlife sanctuary in the world, unequaled for its natural beauty and scientific value. With more than two million wildebeests, half a million Thomson's gazelles, and a quarter million zebras, it has the greatest concentration of plains game in Africa. The wildebeest and zebra moreover form the star cast of a unique spectacular - the annual Serengeti migration. The name 'Serengeti' comes from the Maasai language and appropriately means an 'extended place'.
The National Park, with an area of 12,950 square kilometers, is as big as Northern Ireland, but its ecosystem, which includes the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, the Maswa Game Reserve and the Masai Mara Game reserve (in Kenya), is roughly the size of Kuwait. It lies between the shores of Lake Victoria in the west, Lake Eyasi in the south, and the Great Rift Valley to the east. As such, it offers the most complex and least disturbed ecosystem on earth.

PRISON ISLAND TOUR
this half a day tour boat ride to the island in a small wooden motorized boat is a must when visiting Zanzibar. Earning its namesake as a former prison for slaves, and a quarantine station for Kenya, Uganda and then Tanganyika, nowadays the island gives you the chance to escape for some peace and quiet! A hundred year old Giant Tortoises act as unlikely vigilant over the island and you cannot not help but wonder what tales they would tell if only they could talk! Approximately one kilometre long and a quarter of a kilometre wide, the location is perfect for swimming & snorkeling after a stroll round the island. Keep the best till last because it really is like diving into champagne the water is so clear.
STONE TOWN TOUR
This begins with a visit to Zanzibar’s colorful market. Alive with the buzz of locals bartering fresh vegetables and baskets of tropical fruit, amongst the heady smell of Jack fruit (amongst many other exotic fruits) we continue on to the site of a cathedral built in 1874. The cathedral signifies a potent time in Zanzibar’s history
and stands on the sight of a past slave market. Abolished in 1873 by decree of the Sultan of Zanzibar, the cathedral’s high altar stands on the exact site of the whipping post that was in the market. From here we visit the residence of the late Sultan of Zanzibar, ‘Tip Tip House’, the Old Fort, ‘Peoples Palace’ and the House of Wonders’, full of intrigue from days of long ago. The tour ends with a stroll down the narrow streets of the old stone town, the heart of Zanzibar’s vivacious history.
